1. Samuel Givens (1), settled in Orange County, Virginia (now Augusta County) in 1738... He was one of the early justices. His will was recorded May 28,"1741 in Will Book 1, page 147, Orange County, Virginia. It was dated October 2, 1740. It mentions...

..wife, Sarah Givens; oldest son, John Givens; second son, Samuel Givens; youngest son, William Givens; son, James Givens; "my young children"; and an unborn child.. Witnesses were James Cathey and Robert Turk. John and Samuel Givens were appointed executors. After the death of Samuel Givens, his widow, Sarah Givens, married Robert Allen of Frederick County, Virginia. (Abstracts from the Records of Augusta County, Virginia, Lyman Chalkley, Vol. I, page 316).
