William Givens (3), son of John Givens (2) and Mary Margaret Sitlington, was born in 1746; died in 1793; married in 1764, Agnes Bratton, born 1747; died 1827, daughter of Robert Bratton and Ann (McFarland) Dunlap. (See Bratton Family). He served as a Lieutenant in the Virginia Militia. His will was dated November 24, 1792 with a codicil added on September 29, 1793. It was recorded in December 1793 in Will Book 1, page 27, Bath County, Virginia. It mentions wife, Nancy (Agnes); sons, Samuel, Adam, James, John, George, and Henry; two youngest daughters, Ann and Peggy; son, William; four youngest daughters, Mary, Isabel, Ann, and Peggy; eldest sons, Robert and William; daughters, Sally and Jenny Janet); and son-in-law, John Berry. Executors were son, Robert and wife, Nancy.- Witnesses were Robert Given, John Berry, and John Wilson.
