While all male descendants of George Martin Hamilton's family line are assumed to be biological sons of their father, at some point on the line, the Hamilton name became associated with Berry/Barry y-DNA.

As of 1 Sept. 2007, it is not known if this is the result of a male Berry child being adopted by a Hamilton family, or a male Berry changing his surname to Hamilton, or by some other circumstance. The fact is: George M. Hamilton's y-DNA more closely matches that of William A Barry and Charles E Berry, than any known Hamilton DNA result.
